Move
the Target get inside the weapon
Retreat is simply allowing oneself to become a moving
target. Advantage occurs when an opponent enters your
Air space. Assumption of an opponent is a critical error.
The defensive type waits for aggression, offensive type always commits
to attack, but the reactionary type is most dangerous because it
continuously adapts to create opportunity. Opportunity is always
present when you move the target and get inside the weapon. Angle &
direction are
Key components of any technique. When engaging an oncoming assault
setting up the appropriate angle in reacting can determine the quality
of targets. In any strategy a military expert will tell you soft
targets are best, hard targets are generally well defended and
therefore are more difficult to destroy. All Martial Artist are
students. The best Martial Artist are great students. Focus,
Quality, Balance, Breathing create great techniques & repetition
creates speed. On the subject of kata, the kata is an important part of
training but shouldn’t drive belt rank.
The factors that certify or justify rank are in many systems found in
one training tool “kata”. In Cain Ryu the same
Qualities found in kata that justify rank are still important
But can be borne out in knowledge and implementation.
Sparring is an example of execution , or the ability to use
What is found in the kata. If the instructor is observant of
His students he is aware of their capabilities, confidence,
& discipline. Therefore Cain Ryu is not a kata driven system.
Examples of kata driven systems : Shotokan & Tae Kwon Do, There are
many more systems which require katas for each rank advancement. The
emphasis on katas in these traditional systems.
